A Helping of Haggis

Well, I hope you all enjoyed Burns' Night last night and gave your own wee toast to the lads and the lasses!  We had a ball here in Edinburgh, with a house full of close friends and family around our table to celebrate Scotland's legendary bard.

We tucked into our Haggis, (veggie one for me, very tasty!); enjoyed readings of Burns' poetry, (ably delivered by my brother-in-law); I even managed a wee tune on my piano, (Auld Lang Syne; what else!)  It was a really great evening.

Afterwards, it made me think, that this is really what life is all about.  Spending time just having fun, with people you really like.

An evening like that is worth a hundred spent zombie-watching rubbish on TV.  More real people and less brain-draining certainly makes for a happier JW and a happier me. We bounced into bed last night, full of chat about the evening's entertainment, rather than dragging ourselves there muttering about turning out lights and getting glasses of water.  And this was a Wednesday night, when we would both normally be complaining about how tired we were!

I am already half planning the next evening's fun.  Maybe a Poetry Please night, or a Pool Championship on our old pool table (from JW's misspent youth!)

So, I hope you will join me in raising a toast, to more evenings spent having fun with our friends and family! "Slàinte mhath" to one and all ("Cheers" everyone)!
